AIM:To investigate the relationship between c-MYC and angiogenesis of colorectal cancer, possible mechanism and relationship between c-MYC and colonrectal cancer clinicopathological characters.METHODS:To use immunohistochemical evaluation to detect microvessel density(MVD) and the expression of c-MYC. VEGF in 50 colorectal cancer cases and 16 normal cases.RESULTS: c-MYC significantly correlates with the expression of VEGF(C2= 9.232,p=0.002) and the MVD in the positive c-MYC, VEGF and c-MYC, VEGF double positive groups (43.3 9.6,42.3 9.2,42.6+8. 9) is significantly higher than that in the negative groups; the lymph node metastasis rate in the positive c-MYC, VEGF and double positive groups is siginificantly higher than that in the negative groups(p<0.05), and double positive group is the highest among them(68.9%); the positive expression rate of c-MYC, VEGF and double positive groups increases as the Dukes stage develope (p<0.05); No association between positive expression rate of c-MYC, VEGF and colorectal cancer histological types, differentiation.CONCLUSIONS: c-MYC significantly correlates with angiogenesis of colorectal cancer, and is possibly operated by VEGF, this provides theorical basis for gene therapy at the target of c-MYC of colorectal cancer.
