Objective: To evaluate the results of posterior cruciate ligament(PCL) reconstruction using bone-patellar tendon-bone autograft and to provide a consensus regarding treatment of PCL injuries. Methods: Forty-four patients were followed by questionnaires to determine significant differences between preoperative and follow-up data. Results: Thirty-one patients were followed(follow-up rate was 84%). At an average 4 years follow-up , the mean Lysholm scores improved from 59.4±15.9 points (18-79 points) preoperatively to 92.2±7.4 points (62-100 points). All knees had an improvement(mean,32.8 points;range,21-52 points. No patient developed any joint sepsis or any deep wound infection from the surgical procedure. All patients had full or near full Range of Motion. Conclusion: For the young active patients with isolated injuries to the PCL and patients with injuries to the PCL combined with injuries to other capsuloligamentous structure, early reconstruction should be given. Subjectively, surgery is an ideal choice. |
