OBJECTIVES: To analyze, compare, explains and explore the procedures and methods on the questionnaires about quality of life generally.METHODS: Apply the standardized research to examine the MOS 36-item short form health survey and QOL-HBV questionnaire. The exploratory factor analysis that combined with confirmatory factor analysis was adopted to evaluate the construct validity of QOL-HBV questionnaire. And the canonical correlation was used to analyze relationship of those two questionnairesRESULTS: The MOS 36-item short form health survey and QOL-HBV questionnaire possessed higher reliability, validity and responsibility. The confirmatory factor analysis had provided more explanation and more reasonable information than the exploratory factor analysis in evaluation of construct validity. The canonical correlation can be used to explain the correlation of the two questionnaires deeply.CONCLUSIONS: It is good ideas that the generic instrument is combined with disease specific instrument to evaluate patient's quality of life. The appraisal of the construct validity should be carried on confirmatory factor analysis after the exploratory factor analysis. The canonical correlation analysis is a better method on measuring the criteria validity.
