Clinical Study On Treatment Of Tourette's Syndrome By Combination Of Acupuncture And Medicine

Tourette's syndrome (TS) is a kind of chronic neuropsychosis characterized by multiple motor tics with vocal tics. The disease incidence in common people is 0.07 percent and is increasing gradually.In the article, we summed up the history, epidemiology, pathogenic factors, pathogenesis, neruropathology, clinical characteristics, diagnosis and treatments of TS in modern and traditional Chinese medicine. According to our teacher's experience, we put forward a new treatment that is combination of acupuncture and medicine. The research method is as follows. Objective: To observe the clinical effect on treatment of Tourette's syndrome by combination of acupuncture and medicine. Method: Fifty-five cases were randomly divided into an acupuncture-medicine group and a western drug group, which have been treated with acupuncture plus haloperidol and orally taken haloperidol respectively. Control observation was carried out. Result: Therapeutic effect comparison between the two groups showed a significant difference (p<0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture-medicine has good effect in treating Tourette's syndrome, with better result than simple western drug.
