To study the strokes risk factors and handicapped degree and economic burden in the poor rural regions . To study whether Hypertension, drinking, overweight, low -protein intake, smoking, high - salt intake, and high -fat intake were likely the risk factors of stroke and the stroke sicken imposed heavy economic burden on the families.Methods1. First, we had chosen 5 countries from 27 countries with different economic condition and situation in Zhangwu county of Liaoning province, second, we had chosen 4 villages from each country of the 5 countries and added up to 20 villages. The stroke patients and healthy farmers, which were 102 male farmers respectively, were selected and were interviewed using a Questionnaire.2. To investigate the age, height, weight, education, economic condition of family, smoking, drinking, diet, the sicken consciousness of hypertension and hyperlipenia , economic income, the expenses of medical treatment and the handicapped degree of strokes etc.The concerned definition were the followings; Smoking was to smoke at least 1 cigarette at everyday, and to continue or to accumulate 6 months or more than 6 months; Drinking was to drink twice or above every week and to keep on above a year . Blood pressure was to measure the blood pressure of the right arm seated, and to take the average number measured two times. When the constringency press was larger than or equal to 140 mmHg or comfortable pieces presswas larger than or equal to 90 mmHg, it was diagnosed high blood pressure; The amounts of salt intake and lard intake were to convert the amounts of every month or every year into that of everyday and everyone; The body mass index ( BMI) was weight( Kg) / height( m) , It was overweight when BMI was larger than 25 kg/m2; We had adopted the Barthel index number to investigate handicapped degree of strokes. There were totally 10 related problems and they were given cent respectively, The handicapped degrees of strokes were divided into 5 grades. They were very serious deformity, serious deformity, inside degree deformity , light degree deformity , no deformity.3. The investigators had been trained and had investigated in advance. They had checked the integrality of the questionnaire and had checked - up the logic of the dates using the calculator.4. The primitive data had been cleaned up and had been imported into the FOXBASE database. We had stated the date using the SAS(6.12) software and had compared them using t exam and x2 exam.ResultsThe prevalence of risk factors for stroke kept at a rather high level among the farmers in the rural areas of Zhangwu county. The rates of smoking, drinking, and tea drinking were upwards of 73. 08% , 64. 70% , and 79. 41% , respectively. The rates of eating little fruit, egg, and animal protein were upwards of 61. 76% , 56. 86% , and 61. 76% , respectively. The amounts of salt intake and lard intake were 22.15g and 22. 88g per day, respectively. The sicken consciousnesses of hypertension and hyperlipenia were only 19. 61% and 17. 64% , respectively. In the stroke patients, the family history of hypertension, drinking, overweight, and low - animal protein intake were 31. 37% , 77.46% , 23. 53% , and 75.49% , respectively, significantly higher than those of the control group. The rates of the handicapped degree and recrudescence were upwards of 56. 8% ,38.2% , respectively. In the stroke group, the net income was 704. 9 yuan per capita per year, while that was 959. 3 yuan in the control group. The fee - for - service of the stroke patient, which was 3120. 6 yuan per year and themaximal fee - for - service was 39000 yuan per year, exceeded greatly the net income of family.ConclusionsHypertension, drinking, overweight, low - protein intake, smoking, high - salt intake, and high - fat intake were likely the risk factors of stroke.
