Objective:To Retrospective analyze the operative effect of 85 patients who were protrusion of lumbar intervertebral disc with symptom of unilateral low limb. To discuss the results of the lumbar intervertebral disc herniation(LDH) with Fenestration procedure . Method: To collect clinical data of 346 patients with protrusion of lumbar intervertebral disc with symptom of unilateral low limb underwent fenestration from February, 1996 to march, 2001 at the First Clinical College of Xinjiang Medical University, and these patiens were followed up one year afert operation. Acorrding to acessment of JOA , excellent results were obtained in 55 cases ( 64.7% ) ,good in 23(27.1%) and poor in 7(8.2%). The score of postoperative function when discharged had a marked difference with that of preoperation, P < 0.01,either did the followed-up score with that of preoperation. Conclusion: The operative method has the merits of small wound and early recovery.Fenestration took not only immediate improvement of function and better effect, but aslo difinite long-term effect. Strictly grasp surgerical norm.In order to improve the curative effect, the protruded necleus pulposus of intervertebral disc should be excisedand complete decompression of nerve root is also important. To pay attention to prevent failed back surgery syndrome.
