| Information technology as an engine of competitive success has played a key role in almost every industries by the end-1990s in the world. Many enterprises in China apply this technology to seize competitive advantage and to snatch success in their fields.Along with information technology bringing great benefits in more and more fields, Health Department of Military Logistics Ministry had made a decision to construct the health information system named No. 1 Project of Military in 1995. No. 2 and 3 Project of Military are started subsequently. No. 1 Project of Military, namely hospital medical treatment information network manage system, is more important than the other projects; No 2 Project of Military concerned medicine date network and long-distance medical treatment. No.3 related to health service autoimmunization manage system. No. 1 Project is the basic and significant part in military health information system.No. 1 Project of Military achieved and set into operation in few army hospitals in 1997. Shortly, whole army hospital applied the No. I system. The use of No. 1 Project of Military speed up the information systems builds up in military hospital. It can be used to supervise medical treatment and promote efficiency.Use of No. 1 Project produces lots of benefits and made hospital more efficiency. On the other hand, there are many problem occurred while use No. 1 Project system.The main problems are:Standardization of health information Standardization of hospital information is the base of information communion and share. Medicines data can't share by vary hospital cause of without information standards while use No. 1 Project System. In pace with unify of global economy, culture and technology, we should develop and extend health information standards, which suit to our owner situation and well compatible with international standards. It's the top-drawer work.Using of No. 1 Project background data Running of No. 1 ProjectSystem produce a great deal data. We can't utilize those data effective. The fact is that: We are data rich, but information poor. Those data is valuable information resource if we can use it effectually.In short, hospital inner management and outer competitive requires use those data rightly.hi the late 1980s, Bill Inmon and others began to develop a new kind of application. This application had as its goal the generation of a data store that brought together important data from many of the different applications within an organization. This data store would provide the organization with an integrated, consistent and subject-oriented view of its data that could then be used to perform various kinds of analyses and reporting functions, and which would help provide information, not just more data. This application was given the name "data warehouse". Since that time, the data warehouse has become an increasing important platform for data analysis and on-line analytical processing and will provide an effective platform for data mining and decision-making.A data warehouse is a subject-oriented, integrated, time-variant and nonvolatile collection of data in support of management's decision-making process.This study selected the data about medical exam patient from No. 1 Project System database. Using those data to design and development a local data warehouse about exam patient information.This study use the SAS/Warehouse Administrator and its metadata repositories be installed on PC that is running Microsoft Windows 2000.
