The Design And Implementation Of Hospital Data Analysis And Decision Support System Based On Data Warehouse

In recent years,most hospitals in China have established various kinds of management information systems for assisting medical affairs.Hospital Information System effectively ensures normal operation of hospitals,reduces operating costs,improves work efficiency and resource utilization rate,becomes a powerful means for hospital scientific management and improvement of medical service level.However,these business systems are relatively independent.Data in many heterogeneous systems is difficult to integrate and share organically.And these information systems belong to On-Line Transaction Processing system,which is mainly designed for business process rather than analysis and management.It is difficult to discover and extract potential information and knowledge from the accumulated huge amount of historical data to help hospital managers make better decisions.Therefore,hospitals need to reintegrate a large amount of business data to provide accurate and reliable data support for managers’ decisions,so as to further improve the quality of hospital management and the level of medical services.Based on the analysis of domestic and foreign research,combined with the specific conditions of the hospital,this thesis designed and implemented a hospital data analysis and decision support system based on various technologies such as data warehouse and On-Line Analytical Processing.First,this thesis analyzes the demands according to the present situation of the hospital information system,then determines the theme and structure of the system.Secondly,the scattered data in the three primary business systems—Outpatient Information System,Inpatient Information System and Inpatient Electronic Medical Record System—were extracted,cleaned,transformed and loaded into the hospital data warehouse.Thirdly,according to the needs of hospital managers,multi-dimensional data modeling is conducted from five aspects: outpatient volume,outpatient income,outpatient diagnosis,inpatient costs and inpatient diagnosis.Finally,based on B/S structure,through a variety of dimensions,using rich forms of presentation such as reports,column charts and pie charts to present the data analysis results to users by topic,this thesis implements the hospital data analysis and decision support system.The value of this system is to organically integrate the data generated by the primary business systems of the hospital and eliminate the phenomenon of “islands” of information.The hospital data analysis and decision support system based on Web is convenient for hospital managers to monitor and analyze indicators such as outpatient and emergency visits,inpatient visits,income and cost structure of patients from multiple levels and dimensions.It provides a more comprehensive,accurate and intuitive data guarantee for hospital managers’ decisions,to cope with increasingly complex and rapidly changing medical environments.It also provides data support for clinical diagnostic data statistics and relevance analysis of diseases in hospital teaching and scientific research.
