ObjectiveIn order to find out health state in countryside, the village resident health service need and untilization influence factors were evaluated to provide practical and scientific reference for instituting health service policy.MethodFrom January 7, 2003 to January 15, 2003, a cluster sampling in Mingle town in Beiliu, Guangxi was conducted based on National household health interview survey. Two weeks prevalence and persons with physician contact with two weeks were calcuated. Influence factors, cost of physician contact, reasons of non-physician conctact were analyzed bytest and rank sum test. Factor analysis was used so as to reduce numerous influence factors to synthetic indexs.Result(1)Information of two weeks prevalence: two weeks prevalence was higher than the average level of countryside during the 2nd national health service survey. The curve of sex and age-specific two weeks prevalence showed U shape. In 0-age group, the rate of male was higher, and the rates of female were higher in the other groups. Mono-factor analysis showed: the sociology influence factors, such as age, sex, marriage, education, shortest distance from clinic, were significant different. Environment influence facotors, such as location of toilet, whether wash hands or not before meal and after relieving, were significant different. (2)Information of persons of physcian contact within two weeks: person with physician contact within 2w was close to the average level of countryside during the 2nd national health service survey. The curve of sex and age-specific 2w physician contact show U shape, the rates of female were higher in all groups. Mono- factor analysis showed: the sociologyinfluence factors, such as age, sex, marriage, culture, shortest distance from clinic, famliy size were significant different. Most resident selected private clinic and village public clinic. The costs among these clinics were significant different, and the cost of village public clinic was lowest. The main reasons of not visiting a doctor was patients consider the illness was mild, 46.6% of resident treated themself. Medicine mainly came from private drugstore and family reserve. (3)Five synthetic indexes were extracted from 15 influence factors by factor analysis. They were medical health service accessibility, family income and living environment, health behavior, demographic elements.ConclusionHealth service need in Mingle town was high. Important protect group were chidren, female and old people. Majority disease was respiratory system disease. Health service utilization was low. Medical health service accessibility, economy, environment and health behavior were improtant influence factors of health service need and utilization. Suggestions: improve local economy, increase basic medical institutions, try to establish a new mode of countryside health service, reinforce health education, and train basic medical stuffs.
