Objective: This study is to investigate the trend of changes of blood coagulation state and parts of prothrombin's function in newborn piglets at different time after hypoxic-ischemic brain damage (HIBD) so to illuminate the relation of brain infarction by hemorrhage or anemia in HIBD and coagulation.Methods: 3-dag-age piglets (n=40) were randomly divided into four experiment groups and a control group, After the legation of the left common carotid artery, the experiment groups were put into a container full of 8% O2 and 92% N2 for 2 hours to establish the HIBD animal model, and then exposed to normal atmosphere for 0 hour, 24 hours, 48hours and 72 hours respectively before executed. Meanwhile sham surgeries were performed on the control group which were exposed to normoxic atmosphere during the experiment period. APTT (activated partial thrombi plastic time), PT (plasma prothrombin time), TT (thrombin time) and the activites of prothrombin II,V,IX,XI were measured at once and at 24, 48, 72 hours after hypoxiaischemia.Results: After hypoxia-ischemia. (1) at HIBD 48 hours, APTT, PT and TT all shortened obviously, (P<0.05) the activities of prothrombin II, V, rose obviously (P<0.05), then all returned to nearly normal at HIBD 72 hours. (2) prothrombin IX shortened obviously at HIBD 0 hours, 24 hours and 72 hours (p<0.05), at 48 hours, it tend to descend, but not remarkable (P>0.05). (3) the activities of prothrombin XI shortened obviously at HIBD 0 hour, and 72 hours (P<0.05), at 24 hours and 48 hours, it didn't change obviously (P>0.05), but at 48 hours it tend to rose.Conclusion: The results show that in neonatal swings HIBD, the blood coagulation would change. At HIBD 48 hours, the blood was at high coagulability. Parts of prothrombin's activites rose. It point out that as blood's high coagulability, the body tends to form microthrombus to block blood vessel. Which may be relevant to brain infarction by anemia in HIBD. It could supply experiment foundation for taking interference in clinic.
