Background: Surgical treatment for carcinoma of thoracic esophagus is still preferable, but the opinion which procedure> extent of resection and reconstruction of digestive tract for thoracic esophageal carcinoma should be taken is not agreeable at present, the factors that influence patients' prognosis is reported much more and mixed domestically and abroad. In the view of the documents, the factors that influence the prognosis of post-esophagectomy for esophageal carcinoma are mainly lymph node metastasis^ invasion depth of tumor> extent of differentiation ?position of tumor ^ resection length of esophagus and approach of operation, in these factors, lymph node metastasis and invasion depth of tumor play an important role, therefor, we synthesize our postoperative clinical materials of thoracic esophageal carcinoma on the basis of reviewing internal and external relevant data .Purpose:to find the factors influencing the prognosis and chosen the reasonableapproach. Methods:to analyze retrospectively the clinical materials of 104 patients who had undergone radical resection for the carcinoma of thoracic esophagus by Cox proportional hazard model of multivariate .Result: the factors influencing the prognosis are lymph node metastasis and the depth of tumor invasion Conclusion: the 5 years survival rate between the cervical and the thoracic anastomosis do not exist significant difference, to promote the 5 years survival rate, early discovery^, early diagnosis and early treatment are necessary , and simultaneously , widely dissect regional lymph node and enough length of esophagus . the cervical> thoracic and abdominal lymph node dissection should be taken into consideration .
