| Aim: In order to produce base coating material by ourselves, reduce the environmental contamination of technician room and improve the quality of movable denture, a study on synthesis and application of the ultraviolet-cured denture coating has been carried on. A preliminary trial of visible light-cured denture is also made.Methods: The optimum constitution of the self-made ultraviolet-cured denture coating was selected and the important physical and chemical properties were examined. According to the medical standards of The People's Republic of China, YY/T0244-1996, YY/TO127-89, its biological properties was tested, including short-term general toxicity trial, hemocytolysis trial, oral mucosa stimulation trial, cytotoxic trial, Ames trial and sensitization trial. A clinical application research was carried on for one year in three first rate hospitals in Tianjin( Stomatological Hospital of Tianjin Medical University, The Second Hospital of Tianjin Medical University, Tianjin Stomatological Hospital). 180 patients were observed. Different kinds of artificial dentures were included, such as complete denture, partial denture, prosthesis and renewed used denture. The subjective feeling of patients and objective appearances of the coated dentures were examined. The coating material has also been used on teaching aid in orthodontic department in Stomatological Hospital of Tianjin Medical University.We made the ultraviolet machine that matched the coating material. In addition, a research on visible light-cured denture coating and its some properties was conducted.Results: 1 The ultraviolet-cured denture coating has good physical and chemical properties.2 The biological properties of the ultraviolet-cured denture coating reached the six national standards.3 The results of application in three hospitals were encouraging: the patients felt smooth and comfortable. The coating was not seen shed or fracture. There was no plaque and color on the coating.4 The ultraviolet machine was easy to use and had good qualities.5 The result of brushing test showed that ultraviolet-cured material and visible light-cured material had little difference in this respect. Conclusions: 1 It is a environmental protective method in technician room to use the coating. It can decrease the operator's intensity of labor and reduce the pollution. So it has profound social meaning.2 Application of coating is an advanced technique of treatment for denture base, especially for those irregular prosthesis. It forms a safety defense preventing denture base from changing shape, enhancing the mechanical strength of denture.3 In this research, we has produced a kind of ultraviolet-cured coating for denture and ultraviolet machine for it. We also find out the usage ofthe material.4 The ultraviolet-cured coating has the following utilities:㊣t can be used on new movable dentures. (2)It can be used to renew those used dentures. (3) It is much suitable for the irregular prosthesis. It can be used for the preservation of teaching aid. |
