Objective:To compare the color stability, surface roughness, flexural strengh, water absorption and water solubility of heatcuring denture base resin after its immersion in four disinfectants. To provide reference for patients with better disinfecting the denture base and reducing the cross infection between the pati-ents with oral infectious diseases and reducing resin base damage,To improve the service life of the resin base supporting provide clinical guidance.Materials and methods:1.75 rectangular samples 65×10×3mm were prepared from heat curing denture base resin accoding to ISOYY0270-20 03. The samples were randomly divided into five groups. They were immers-ed in distilled water(group A),0.12% chlorhexidine (group B),75% alcoh-ol (group C), Polident denture cleansers (group D),0.5% povidoneiodine (group E). The procedure of immersion was repeated 180 times over a pe-riod of 6 days, following 180 days of disinfecting by the patients. Five samples from each group were used for color change(AE) by the VITA Easyshae compact computer colorimeter, five samples were used to measur-e the surfaceroughness. The flexural strength was measured in a universal testing machine. Five samples were used to measure the water absorption and water solubility. The test results of the experiment and control groups were analyzed separately.2. The choice of 25 central incisor randomly assigned to five groups, and followed the above methods of disinfection A to E, computer use VITA Easyshade Compact colorimeter resin teeth color change detection using roughness detected resin teeth labial surface roughness. The test results of the experiment and control groups were analyzed separately. Results:After disinfection, the AE for the resin specimens using univariate analysis of variance showed difference among disinfection groups statisti-cally significant (p<0.05). The results of LSD pairwise comparison meth-od, the control group compared to 0.12% chlorhexidine soak (group B), and 0.5% povidoneiodine soaked (E group)resin specimens. their ΔE values were statistically significant (p<0.05). Resin teeth with different disinfectant treatment, the control group compared to 0.5% povidoneiodi-ne soak (E group), the AE was statistically significant (P< 0.05), the difference between the other disinfectant groups had no statistical signific-ance (P>0.05).The color with NBS units, using different methods of disinfection treated resin specimens and resin teeth,75% alcohol group (group C) and Polident denture cleansers (group D) correspond to the de-gree people feel for color resin teeth and specimens were feeling very slightly (NBS 0.0-0.5); 0.12% chlorhexidine immersion group (group B), corresponds to group of people feel the extent of the color of the resin specimens and the resin teeth was feeling slightly (NBS 0.5-1.5); 0.5% povidoneiodine soaked group (Group E) corresponding to the degree people feel for color of the resin specimens and the resin teeth was to feel significantly (NBS 1.5-3.0)Dental resin and a resin specimen Ra of mean and standard deviation of different disinfectants after disinfection. ANOVA showed a significant difference with different disinfectants. After comparison with the control group, the resin specimens,75% alcohol group (group C), its Ra value had significant difference(p<0.05).Other disinfectants had no statistically significant difference (P>0.05).Using Nikon inverted microscope (Ti, Nikon, Japan), resin specimenswere observed after different disinfectants microstructure under the objective le-ns 400 times. Found that 75% alcohol group (group C) of the microstruc-ture significantly different than other groups,0.5% povidoneiodine group had significantly soak stain phenomenon. Polident denture cleansers (group D)almost without caused obvious crack on the surface of the resin spec-imen.After disinfection, Water absorption and water solubility for the resi-n specimens with different methods of disinfection,75% alcohol group ( group C)of the water absorption and water solubility had statistically sign-ificant difference than other groups (p<0.05).Other disinfectants had no statistically significant difference (P>0.05).After disinfection, the bending strength of each group had no signific-ant difference than the negative control group (P>0.05).Conclusions:Among the four methods of disinfection,Polident denture disinfectant did not influence the color stability, surface roughness, flexural strength, water absorption and water solubility.Using Polident denture disinfecting tablets soaked in resin and resin teeth specimens obtained satisfactory results,Do not recommend using 0.12% chlorhexidine,75% alcohol and 0.5% povidoneiodine by soaking disinfectants such as method of disinfection. |
