Objective: To investigate effect of Helicobacter pylori infection on Expressions of PCNA^ Bcl-2> Fas protein in gastric mucomembranous cell of chronic gastric diseases. Methods: HP was examined in 23 patients with gastric carcinoma, 31 patients with chronic atrophic gastritis,26 patients with chronic superficial gastritis, 13 controls by Helicobacter Pylori Detection Kin and PCNA> Bcl-2> Fas protein examined immunohistochemically to detect their expressions . Results : The frequency of HP infection in gastric carcinoma was significantly higher than that in the controls(P <0.05), there was no significant difference in HP infection rate between chronic superficial gastritis group and the controls (P>0.05). PCNA labeling index (LI%) in H. pylori positive patients was significantly higher than negative patients in all the chronic gastritis (P<0.01); from normal controls to gastric carcinoma , there are all significant difference in PCNA labeling index(P <0.05) . Expression of Bcl-2 protein In gastratrophia and gastric carcinoma were significant higher than that in normal controls (P<0.05), and there were significant difference between H. pylori infection negative patients and positive patients(P<0.05). Conclusion:These results suggest that H. pylori infection causes increased gastric mucomembranous cell proliferation by promoting expression of PCNA and inhibit gastric mucomembranous cell apoptosis by upregulating the level of bcl-2 protein expression, so HP might act as a tumor promoter in the genesis of gastric cancer.
