Objective : To investigate the effects of nitric oxide (NO) on using tissue engineered cartilage to repair cartilage defect, in terms of apoptosis aspect. Methods: Rabbit articular chondrocytes apoptosis was induced by NO which was generated from sodium nitroprusside (3mmol/L and 6mmol/L) . After administration of NO, at 4, 8, 12, 16, 20h, chondrocytes apoptosis was observed by using electron microscopy, FAGS analysis and TUNEL staining.
