Lots of epidemic and clinical materials show that Apolipoprotein E (ApoE), whichis a ligand and a smictural and fimctional protein of lipoprotein, plays an imPortan roleon metabolism of plasma lipids and lipoproteins, especially on those Which can induceathrosc1erosis forming. Different kind of ApoE genotype has different action onincidence of hroerlipidemia or coronary artery disease (CAD). But studies on thisdomain haven't reached an agreement amil now To stlldy the fimction of ApoE genepolymorphism on incidence and prognosis of CAD, we used molecular biologicalmethods of polymerase chain reaction - restriction fragment length polyInorphism(PCR-gyLP) to determine ApoE genotype of 234 CAD patients and l89 controls. Fivekinds of APoE genotype, ε3/3, ε3/2, ε4/3, ε4/2 and ε4/4 were detected in ourstudy. Plasma lipid levels were measured by routine ways. According to these lipidlevels, we divided each group into two subgrouPs: high and normal plasma lipid ones, and analyzed ApoE gene polymorphism distribution of these subgroups and of CADpatients with different heart function. It indicates that different kind of ApoE allele hasdiffereni function on plasma lipid and lipoprotein levels; There are significam statisticdifferences in Apo ε4/3 genotype and E 4 allele frequencies betWeen normal-lipid-leveled CAD patients and controls (pwt0.0l), But betWeen the tWo hyPerlipidemiasubgrouPs, no differences have been fOtmd. Patients with heart function of class Ⅲ-Ⅳhave higher Apo ε4/3 genotyPe and ε4 allele frequencies and lower ε3/3 genotypefrequencies than those with better heart function (class Ⅰ-Ⅱ ). ApoE polymorphism,hyPerlipidemia and CAD have interactions on one another. Sublevel analyze caneliminate the action that high plasma lipid and lipoprotein levels have on incidence ofCAD, thus we could draw a convincable conclusion. ApoE gene polymorphism isinvolved in the occurrence, the development and the heart fimction of CAD. Apo ε4/3genotype and ε4 allele are imporian genetic factors of CAD and may haverelationship with worse heart fimction or cardiac events; While ε3/3 genotype mightbe a Protective factor of CAD.
