The relationship of Dasuanzao (Tiansuanzao and Cuisuanzao) with 7 Chinese jujube (Ziziphus jujuba Mill.) varieties and 18 wild jujube (Z.acidojujua C.Y.Cheng et M.J.Liu) types from Shandong province were studied by biological characteristics, fruit quality, morphological characteristics analysis and random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis. The main results were as followings:1. Tiansuanzao and Cuisuanzao were new cultivars which were bred from traditional fresh food Dasuanzao strain in southern mountain ragion of Jinan city. The biological characteristics of new cultivars were studied. The results showed that both of them possessed excellent characteristics such as extremely early maturity, high yield, abundant juice and particular flavor. Moreover, they both had good drought resistance, leanness tolerance and adaptability. Therefore, they were potential cash crops if extensively planted.2. The morphological characteristics of Dasuanzao was closer with wild jujube, its fruit was about 2 cm long with elliptical stone and full seed. Tiansuanzao and Cuisuanzao had some characteristics such as flimsy exocarp and thick mesocarp, one end apical stone. They were closer with Chinese jujube.3. Vc content of Dasuanzao was higher than Jujube varieties and lower than wild jujube varieties (types). Then Dasuanzao was confered to the middle type between wild jujube and Chinese jujube. Sugar and acid content of Dasuanzao was closer with Chinese jujube.4. The cluster analysis based on morphological characteristics data indicated that Tiansuanzao and Cuisuanzao were clustered into one group, then they were clustered with Chinese jujube, finally they were clustered with wild jujube. The results showed Dasuanzao maybe were in the middle of wild jujube and Chinese jujube and showed special classification position.5. The genetic diversity and systematic relationship between 11 jujube cultivers were studied using RAPD (random amplified polymorphic DNA) technique. Cluster analysis showed: whenλ= 15, the forms tested were divided into 3groups. Dasuanzao were in the middle of wild jujube and Chinese jujube and showed special classification position. Euclidean distance showed: Average Euclidean distance of Dasuanzao with wild jujube exceeded it with Chinese jujube, it had closer relationship with Chinese jujube.
