This paper proposed a simple and objective evaluation approach of establishing a comprehensive evaluation system of modern garden rose cultivars.It provided theory basis for reasonable selection of appropriate application of modern garden roses for Beijing area and the choice of hybrid breeding parent and hybrid offspring varieties.60 hybrid tea roses,16 floribunda roses and 12 climber & rambler roses by cultivars resources garden of China national engineering research center were chosen for floriculture.By the method of analytic hierarchy process,production,ornamental characteristics and resistibility were evaluated.A comprehensive evaluation system of the three types of modern garden roses respectively was founded at first.The result was shown as below:1.Following AHP method,the comprehensive evaluation model of hybrid tea roses,floribunda roses and climber & rambler roses were made and each cultivar was evaluated.According to the comprehensive evaluated value and the actual observation results,the cultivars are divided into three grades:Hybrid Tea Roses,the first grades(≥4.5):excellent ornamental value,a total of 19 cultivars;the second grades(4.5>Ⅱ≥4.0):higher ornamental value,total 18;the third grades(<4.0):general ornamental value,total 23.Floribunda roses,the first grades(≥3.5):excellent ornamental value,total 5; the second grades 3.5>Ⅱ≥3.0):higher ornamental value,total 7;the third grades(<3.0):general ornamental value,total 4.Climber & Rambler roses,the first grades(≥3.5):excellent ornamental value, total 5;the second grades(3.5>Ⅱ≥3.0):higher ornamental value,total 3;the third grades(<3.0):general ornamental value,total 4.2.The chlorophyll fluorescence parameters were used to appraise shading tolerance,which combined with the reduction of leaf weight percentage to cluster analysis in the experiment.The modern garden roses were divided into three levels:the cultivars of tolerance,middle tolerance and weak tolerance.3.The electric conductivity and the temperature for conductivity leaking 50%was known as LT50 method was utilized to do the cold resistance evaluation..Combined with the observation of growth recovery the resulted was verified.It was consistent with observation results in the farm.
