Research Of Wild Boar Harm In East Liaoning

From September 2007 to January 2009,there were surveys about the population and the harm of wild boar in the eastern part of Liaoning(Mainly in Huanren Benxi and Kuandian Dandong)The methods to investigate the harm of wild boar are visit surveys,questionnaire surveys and field surveys;the measure to investigate population of wild boar is the relative-number survey.After analysis of the results of the survey,the main conclusions are as follows:The harm of wild boar did happen in the eastern part of Liaoning.Since 2005 to 2008,the damage event of wild boar and the cost of damage both in Huanren and Kuandian counties are became more and more seriously.The main crop types that wild boar damage is corn,and the others like peanuts,sweet potatoes and so on,and the other also damage by wild boar are the pear,peach,ginseng and other forest farming and Chensinensis breeding.The damage ways of wild boar mainly are eat the fructification,or dig the peanuts,sweet potatoes,ginseng which are grow underground,and hunting Chensinensis freed by man and destroyed the facilities for the inclosing chensinensis.The damage happened almost when early summer till late autumn.Every day wild boar comes to the field to eat crop almost when evening and night(78.57%);the crops that more close to the forest edge of mountain forest are more chance to being damage(68.42%).Will the harm of wild boar happen or not and the degree of harm are closely related to geographical environment that where the crop is,the geographical locations of farmland which wild boar harm are mostly the Woodside that near the forest edge,and at least have one side face to the mountain,and the crops more near the Woodside the damage will be more serious and more frequent;and generally,the fields that stay away from habitat of wild boar which in the plain areas less harm by wild boar,but the harm occasionally happened to the crops that near the road or residential areas,in the Survey,farmlands which affected by wild boar,the distance away from forest edge were less than 30m.There are four kinds of forest types around the farmland:coniferous forest of larch,mixed conifer,broad-leaved mixed forest and broad-leaved forest of chestnut.The density of wild boar in the Huanren and Kuandian counties is(0.01554±0.00322)/hm~2 (α=0.05),and the population is 7898～12024.The main habitat types of wild boar in winter are Broad-leaved forest of Quercus mongolica,broad-leaved mixed forest,coniferous forest of larch,dwarf shrubs.The resting- places of Wild boar are all in the lee and sunny slope,the winter habitat of the hidden degrees is between 3%-30%.
