The paper employs several kind of water retention agents and the PAM effects in view of the northwest semi-arid region sand soil farmland, has adopted the research technique with the laboratory test and the field test unify. To apprais effects of soil water retention property energy with using water retention agent, and the carrot emerges, soil moisture content and the output with using water retention agent and PAM. At the same time, to apprais suitable density, effect, economic efficiency.,and discusse the mechanism of water retention agent and PAM in carrot emerges and field guarantees water aspects.The result indicated:After the soil executes into the water retention agent, may enhance the soil obviously the water retention property. Looked from the soil dehydrated curve, After passing through same density water retention agent processing the soil guarantees the hydraulic modulus rate and the water content change regulation is presently same the tendency, Namely the soil guarantees the hydraulic modulus rate and the simulation evaporation time presents basically compares the relations. After useing water retention agent 2 years later, the soil water retention property can be best, 3~4 years later regulation declining trend.The water retention agent field test indicated, the employment water retention agent can enhance soil moisture content effectively with 0-20cm depth, And in 1%~9% soil proportion mixture scopes, along with soil mixture strength increase, influence with 0~20cm soil moisture content declining trend, but looking from the 20~40cm soil layer soil, this can suppress the moisture leakage effectively, enhances the 0~20cm soil layer soil the moisture use factor. To says with employment water retention agent 2~4 years later soil, Mainly through enhances the soil moisture content, improves the soil voidage to provide the more advantageous yield condition for carrot's growth. Although PAM has effects to promotion seed germinate, raise crops rate of seedlings emergence, but the molecular weight is by no means bigger is better, when molecular weight oversized, Its dissolved speed is influenced, and caused it could not display function in test plot. The different PAM processing has the production increase effect to the carrot, but the difference processes has not obvious different.
