Eperythrozoonosis was a zoonosis (anthropozoonosis) in many kind of animals,which parasite on erythrocytes, plasma and marrow. Formerly, Eperythrozoon wasclassified as the rickettsial agent, recently phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA geneshowed that Eperythrozoon was closely related to mycoplasma.Blood smear examination was the mainly method of diagnosis, however, lownumber of organisms of early parasitemia or chronic infection can interfere with theeffectiveness of this method, and the powder of dye similar with the parasite attached tothe erythrocyte, which caused artificial positive. Inoculative splenectomize pigs wasclearly diagnosed method, but it need much time. Serologic evidence of Eperythrozoonexposure included the in indirect hemagglutination test (IHA), complement fixation test(CFT) and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), however, absence theregular of antibody change, so artificial negative is occasionally. The Eperythrozoon ovisPCR diagnotic method was established.The diagnostic method to Eperythrozoon ovis was established by a pair ofprokaryotic universal primers, sequence comparison and analysis of phylogenetic tree.Based on the obtained 16S rRNA gene sequence of E. ovis by a pair of specialprimers. Specificity analysis and sensitivity analysis showed that the method couldamplify the special segment of E. ovis' 16S rRNA gene sequence. Its lowest test quantitywas 4.5 fg. The 143 blood samples collected from three places in Hubei province wereexamined for the presence of E. ovis by PCR. The results showed that average infectiverate of E. ovis was 17.48%. This data revealed that E. ovis present wildly in Hubeiprovince.In order to confirm the effect of imidocard dipropionate against swineeperythrozoonosis, this experiment was carried out. 48 pigs were purchased and dividedinto 6 groups, 40 pigs were leaded to eperthrozoonosis by injected dexamethasonephosphate sodium and then treated with imidocard dipropionate at different dosages andberenil respectively. The results showed that imidocard dipropionate could restrain thegrowth of E. suis and could be used in clinical treatment. To investigate the disease in pigs with symptoms of hyperpyrexia, icterus andrubefaction,which was to consider Eperythrozoonsis in recent years. A newly suspectpathogen was found in the blood of sicked pigs is polymorphic in which most of themwere spindles with flagellum on the both sides and 5~7μm in length, "flagellate in pigblood" was named temporarily. The phenomenon were revealed by the study onexamination of pathogen, investigation of epidemiology included different ages,speciesand seasons, observation of clinical symptom, pathology, artificial infections andtreatment.
