Potato (Solanum tuberosum. L), the important food, vegetable and forage crop in the world, also as the important industrial raw material. The production of mini-tuber is the groundwork of high yield in potato. In order to control the growth and development of mini-tuber plants, develop the technology of high yield in mini-tuber, research the growth of stolon and tuber formation, three variety of potato (cv.Favorita,cv. Yushuyihao, cv. Eshusanhao) in southwest china were investigated by physical regulation (stolon growth regulation, tuber growth regulation, stolon and tuber synergy regulation).The physical signs were measured to discuss the response of potato to those regulations.The main results were as follows:1. The effect of stolon growth regulation on potato plants in aeroponicThe results indicated that excising stolon apices or entire primary stolons or excising stolons constantly significantly inhibited the plant heights, affected the plant stem diameter, LAI, root volume, root activity, chlorophyll content and LOX activity. Stimulative effect of excising stolons constantly was the optimal measure in all stolon regulation measures. The response of potato to stolon growth regulation varied with every varieties. The shorter the ripe period, the response was more intensity.Excising stolon apices significantly promote the formation of secondary stolon while excising stolons constants increased the number of new primaery stolons. The potato plants produced more primary stolons after excising primary stolons. In this experiment, the stolons potentially produced in cv. Favorita was tested as 125 per plant, the secondary stlons potentially produced was 39 per plant, the compensation potential of stlons was 29 per plant one-time. Cv. Yushuyihao was tested as 77,30,27 while cv.Eshusanhao was 60,19,16, respectively. 2. The effect of tuber growth regulation on potato plants in aeroponicTuber growth regulation significantly inhibited the plant height, affected the plant stem diameter, LAI, root volume, root activity, chlorophyll content and LOX activity. And the affect was not as intensity as stolon growth regulation. Stimulative effect of excising tuber constantly was the optimal measure in all tuber regulation measures. Along with the excising number of tuber, the lipoxygenase activity turned intensity.The response of potato to stolon growth regulation varied with every varieties. Excising the primary tuber or all tubers promote the formation of new tubers in potato. Excising the primary tuber increased the number of secondary tuber. Excising the qualified-tuber significantly increased the number of qualified-tuber. In this experiment, the tuber produced potential in cv. Favorita was tested as 82 per plant, the secondary tuber produce potential was 31 per plant, the qualified-tuber potential of tubers was 17 per plant. Cv.Yushuyihao was tested as 30,18,11 while cv.Eshusanhao was 20.17,8 respectively.3. The effects of stolon and tuber synergy regulation on potato plants in aeroponicIn this experiment, engraftment with 2 internodes of plant significantly promoted the growth in potato in aeroponic while 3 internodes promoted the activity of lipoxygenase, the number of stolons and tubers. Toppruning increased the vigour of growth and inhibited the plant height, toppruning 1or2 times significantly increased the number of stolons and tubers. The most high-yield treatment were cv. Favorita, engraftment 3 internodes and toppruning 2 times.
