Cortex Phellodendri Chinese, an important Chinese traditional medicine, is dry bark of Rutaceae Phellodendron chinese Schneid, which contains Berberine as a mainly medicinal component. In order to offer quantized scientific foundation for Phellodendron chinese GAP seedling cultivation, the paper studies planting field ecological environment quality, biological characteristics, seed germination, seedling culture, diseases and insect pests in seedling stage, using the planting environment, seeds and seedlings of Phellodendron chinese in Forestry Ecological Experimental Station in Xiangxi Tujiangzu autonomous region. Results are followed:1.The thesis detects every index of air(NOx,SO2,TSP), soil(pH, extractable metal content and pesticite residue) and irrigating water(BOD, COD, pH, extractable metal content, ect.)of environment of Forestry Ecological Experimental Station in Xiangxi Tujiangzu autonomous region, which indicates that each environmental index of this field comes up to the requirement for Chinese medicine planting field in "Chinese Medicine GAP(proposed)".2.The article studies by observation and investigation about botanical morphological features of Phellodendron chinese and growing development process of its seedling, which leads to seedling phonological phases of Phellodendron chinese divided into emergence stage, elongation stage, leaf expansion stage and wintering stage.3.Seeds of Phellodendron chinese are detected, which leads to the result that clarity is 94.33%, germination rate is 25.75%, vitality is 66.5%, moisture content is 12.25%, thousand-seed weight is 15.14g. These seeds are studied about the relation between germination rate and three factors, seedcoat-breaking, initial dipping temperature and dipping time. The outcome illustrates the three factors and the interaction of initial dipping temperature and dipping time all have a distinct effect on germination rate.4.The experiment of studying the relation between planting density and stem growth of hight and diameter, which leads to the result that when density is 30cm×5cm, average stem height growth is 80.49cm, average stem diameter growth 0.76cm, and the number of seedlings in a unit area and stem growth of height and diameter are higher than the ones of other treatments.5.The experiment of studying relation between stem growth of both height and diameter and two topdressing factors of sorts and times, which results in that when fertilized with carbamind in 3 times, seedings have a notably higher growth level than other treatment, having an average stem height growth 118.26cm and an average stem diameter 1.12cm.6.From observation and investigation of Phellodendron Chinese seedling diseases and inspect pests in planting field, it is found that root rot is the main disease while black cutworm is the main inspect pest of Phellodendron Chinese in that field. According to literatures and former datas, it is concluded that root rot has a high-incidence season on May and a mainly infection gate of injured root, while black cutworm has a high-incidence season on Apil and May and corses the most serious effect by the first brood of larva.
