| ObjectiveTo observe the clinical efficacy of dermal needle tapping and cupping therapy at the Back-shu points based for the treatment of moderate or severe acne vulgaris, and provide objective basis for generalization of clinical use.MethodThis research was proceeded by self contrast method, and selected 57 cases of moderate or severe acne vulgaris patients who were in accordance with the accepting criteria. Main acupoints were Dazhui (DU14), Feishu (BL13), Geshu (BL17) and Pishu (BL30) The other acupoints were selected according to syndrome differentiation of TCM. All Back-shu points were alternately taken from both sides. After routine disinfection, dermal needle was performed by heavily tapping at the acupoint until blood oozing (reducing method) or lightly tapping it, but then no blood oozing (reinforcing method), and then cupping was performed for 10-15 minutes. Once a week,8 weeks as one course of treatment. The number of inflammatory/non-inflammatory acne lesions and the total number of acne lesions were recorded at newly diagnosed and after 2,4,6, and 8 weeks of treatment, and then the acne lesion regression rate was observed. The hemorrhage conditions were observed and the hemorrhage condition scores were filled in the score chart of hemorrhage conditions at 1st,2nd 4th,6th, and 8th treatment. The clinical efficacy was evaluated after one course of treatment.Result1. Clinical efficacyThe total effective rates were 33.33% after 2 weeks,78.95% after 4 weeks,87.72% after 6 weeks and 96.49% after 8 weeks. There was no significant relationship between clinical efficacy and severity of Acne (P>0.05). But there were some differences of efficacy between different TCM syndrome types (P<0.05).2. Change in the number of lesionsAfter one course of treatment, the number of inflammatory/non-inflammatory lesions was significantly reduced in comparison with pre-treatment (P<0.05)3. Comparison of the hemorrhage condition scoresAfter one course of treatment, the hemorrhage condition scores were decreased in comparison with pre-treatment (P<0.05)Conclusion1. Dermal needle tapping and cupping therapy at the Back-shu points based is very effective for treating moderate or severe acne vulgaris, and the clinical efficacy can be increased as an extension of time for the treatment.2. Dermal needle tapping and cupping therapy at Back-shu points based can reduce the number of acne lesions in moderate or severe acne vulgaris. |
