Carpinus turczaninowii forests have important economical and ecological value. Canyon district of the Taihang Mountain in the Southern Shanxi were regarded as disquisitive site. In the ecological relationships of Carpinus turczaninowii forests and their functional layers were studied by using some quantities methods, such as Two-way Indicator Species Analysis, Detrended Correspondence Analysis and Canonical Correspondence Analysis. The important environmental factors which affect plants in various functional layers of Carpinus turczaninowii communities were analyzed in this thesis.In order to analyze the ecological relationships among plant species, plant communities and environment, we studied the communities types, structure and the Canyon distribute of Taihang Mountain in the Southern Shanxi by using TWINSPAN, DCA, CCA and so on. According to TWINSPAN result we get 9 community types. The result of DCA ordination showed that different plant communities and their distributing area varied with the environmental change in the ordination graph where the first axis of DCA denoted the changes of slope, aspect and elevation. The second axis of DCA denoted the change of elevation. The ordination graph of dominant and common species in the plant communities was very similar to the ordination graph of plant community types. And the distribute pattern of dominant species in the plant communities determines the distribute pattern of plant communities types to great degree. The result of CCA ordination showed that the change of aspect and slope affect communities and dominate species deeply. The CCA ordination improved relativity between species and environmental factors. So it avails to explain the ecology meaning of ordination axes and therefore, CCA is better than DCA.Arbors, shcrubs and herbage species were used in analyzing relations of functional layer by using TWINSPAN and CCA.
