Through the study on 9771S botanical morphology, sterile critical temperature , propagations condition , outcrossing character and combinations ' heterosis, also include the combinations' rice quality, the main results are as follows.(1) 9771S has a storng ability of tillering. Its flag leaf is short ,erect and narrow ,and its spikelet opening angle is small. Its plant height is 47.28 centimeter and the stalk is thickset, so it has a strong resist lodge ability. The numbers of glume reach to 492,000 per square mete.(2) The days to heading of 9771S,which was 77-53 days, by split seeding from March 28 to June 30, had a significant linear relation with sowing date. The average effective accumulated temperature (≥12℃) is 885℃, comparatively stabilization. Thus it owned the character with sensitive to temperature and had little relativity with day-length.(3) 9771S had only one fertility fluctuation stage according to the split seeding in changaha district in 2005,so we can say its fertility is very stable. We got the sterile critical temperature that is 23 ℃ through analysing the weather data recording.(4) The out-crossing characteristics was excellent. The flourishing flowering time of 9771S was concentrated during 2-6d after heading. The daily-flowering peak was at 10:00-12:00 and the spikelet opening time was about 95 min. The flowering rate before noon is about 71.9.Its stigma exsertion rate was high. The clasping spilelet rate was very low and the outcrossing-seedy potentiality was high. 9771S was insensitive to GA3, it wouldn't relieve the clasping neck until use level of GA3 reached 30-35 g/667 m~2and the most effective stages are on the point of crevasse and just on the crevasse.(5) The optimal propagation condition was irrigating with running cold water of 20-21 ℃ under nature illumination condition, then the average seed setting rate was above 12.35% when it was irrigated with five days .(6) General combining ability and special combining ability are good. The combinations had a shorter growth period which is very important in early rice production, also had a suitable plant height that can resist lodge well.
