MOET technique, namely, Super-ovulation and Embryo Transfer technique, is one new biological high-tech which has been developed till 1970s in order to improve reproductive capacity of quality female cattle. The reproductive potential of female cattle can be tapped fully and the genetic can be quickened through using MOET technique which is especially significant for single-embryo animals, such as cows, goats, etc.Boer goats have been extended quickly all over the county since they were brought into China due to their powerful accommodative capacity, high resistibi1ity of diseases, high growing speed, dramatic effort of improving local goats' variety. The number of Boer goats brought into China is limited although the number of local goats which are to be improved is large, therefore, the paradox between supply and necessity of Boer goats have been becoming prominent gradually. MOET technique is carried to improve pure breeding and to enlarge quantity of Boer goats in order to eliminate the paradox, furthermore, good effort in the practice has been obtained.A large quantity of Boer goats which are pure varieties have been brought from some foreign countries, such as New Zealand, Australia etc, to improve the variety of local goats since Hubei Boer Goat Farm locating Yidu City was built. The extension and application of Boer goats are limited seriously owing to low reproductive efficiency, of which the rate of producing kids only can be reach from 180% to 190% averagely and the rate of sigle-embryo exceeds 30%, In September 2001 Hubei Boer Goat Farm decided to adopt MOET technique to enlarge the quantity of their own Boer goats referring to some domestic and abroad relevant experiments in order to heighten Boer goat' s reproductive efficiency and make quality characteristics shown fully.Treatments of super-ovulation, artificial insemination, surgical embryo-collection were applied in two batches to the donor Boer goats in Hubei Boer Goat Farm. At the same time estrus synchronization treatment and embryo transfer at early stage were applied to the does recipients of the same farm which included Yichang white goats, Matou goats and a few of dairy goats. A total of 54 Boer goats donors were treated with progesterone vagina releasing devices, followed by injections of FSH in descending doses between13 and 16 days of the next estrous cycles and by two or three artificial inseminations when the goat was in heat. A total of 1180 ovulation points were observed on ovaries of 54 donors, averaged 22. 1. A total of 998 embryos were harvested, of which 808 were suitable for transfer (81. 0%). On average, every donor produced 15.0 embryos. Estrus synchronization of 580recipient does were induced by injections of CPL and 83. 6% of treated animals were in estrus synchronization. Four hundred and sixty recipients were transplanted one to three embryos per goat, of which 288 62.6% were in pregnant by detections using B mode ultrasonography 45 days later, and 279 does gave birth, producing 450 kids in total. The average kidding rate was 96.9%. The rate of embryos developing into kids was 55.7%. On average the number of kids produced by each donor Boer goat was 8. 3, which was approximately 5.6 times as many as natural reproduction. The goal of heightening reproductive efficiency of Boer goats had been reached. The number of collecting embryos, the pregnant rate and the rate of embryos developing into kids in the experiment were all similar to other domestic relevant experiments. Furthermore, Multiple Ovulation and Embryo Transfer technology in goats are described in detail in this thesis.
