The release rules and effects on trees of dry water were studied, so as to discuss a new way for drought resistance and increase living and keeping rate of forest in arid areas from the angel of timely effects and gradual release, and provide theoretical base for dry water popularization in drought-resistant afforestation. Charctcristics of dry water and its effects and popularization were studied, and results showed: (1) Under the simultated nature condition, release rules of dry water and its timely effects, and relationship with its affected factors were showed using different quantities of dry water to treat potted plants ( without Seedlings) in the same level. (2) Under simultant nature condition, potted-planting test with different treats showed: 1.0 and 0.75 kg dry water, and upper coverage were the best from the living period of the seedling, while CK, under coverage and 0.25 kg dry water were the worse. In the respect of improving soil moisture rate, the effects of dry water are prior to others. (3) Application of dry water in afforestation in the field and greening roads showed that dry water can preserve soil water to improve living rate and keeping rate of afforestation, and net production and biomass. According to release rules of dry water in sand soil, ai de mai er "chun zhi lin" can Sustain two months at least when soil moisture content was 79.61~126.44g at root system level without other water rescource in the hottest July, August, Septmber, and its effect was evident.
