| Life-weight .Intake, and Digestibility of Tamed Musk Deer during and after LactationLin shu qin(Faculty of Animal Science and Technology, Gansu Agricultural University-, Lanzhou, 730070)Six firstborn female musk deer (Moschus.sifanicus} t the age of 3 years and their fawns(monotocous, $ 3, -??3)were used to study and determine a suitable feeding levels during and after lactation. The feeding, digestive and metabolic trails were carried out with a productive ration formulated by Xinlunshan Tamed Musk Farm, Gansu. The behavior of both Female muse and fawn, which associated with nutrition levels were observed and recorded as well. The results show that: (1)The tamed females occured very good maternal ability during lactation. Fawns often looked for their mothers then they need to suckling on its own initiative. The mother lap the fawn's anus to help defecating while it was suckling, but fawns all have the ability of urine excretion by themselves. Contact between the female and her fawn decreased gradually as the fawn growing up and then lost completely after weaning. (2) the fawns suck 6~8 times every day and lie in all the day except suckling within the age of one-month. After the age of one month the baby became active and ate a lot of feeds and appeared irregular ruminant ,and its suckling time decreased to 2~3times every day and continue time of each suckling shorten largely, and the vegetable feeds became its main food. The rumination and bowel movement occurred regularly and on its own initiative after the age of 45 days. The fawn's behavior at the 2-month or so is similar to the adult musk. (3)lntake of DM and DE for the female during lactation were64.5g/kg0.75 and 851.5kJ/kg0.75,and that of 4th month during pregnancy were 43.3 g/kg075 and 655.0kJ/kg0.75 respectively, and that of the fawns at the age of 4- and 10 month were 59.9 g/kg0.75,874.2 kJ/kg0.75 and 56.9 g/kg0.75,876.9 kJ/kg0.75 respectively. (4) Average life-weight of the females after parturition was 8. 33 + 0.42kg, and that after weaning deceased by 3.6% to 8.03 +0.61 kg. The average birth weight of the fawns was 61 Og , and the average life weight at the age of 3-month was 3.42 kg which account for 37.5%of average weight of adult females. This is 5~6 times of the birth weight. The average life weight gain in duration from the birth to the age of 45 day and from the age of 45 day to weaning were 42.58~44.58g and 20.10-1 5. 50g, that after weaning was about 10~17g in most of the age of month. (5) the digestibility of DM, OM, CP, CF in the ration for females during and after lactation were 75.0%~76.9%,78.5%~80.0% , 61.6%~59.3% and 68.2%~72.5% respectively. And those for the fawns after weaning were 70.9%,75.1%,49.1% and 73.5% respectively. |
