Studies on Characteristics of Herese con voluil Linne抯 Growing and Reproductive Biology and the Utility Value of its Body Abstracts The paper probes into Herese convoluil Linne. The result shows that in the region of Changsha Herese convoluil Linne altogether can have four generations in a year. It goes through the winter in the field in the form of pupa and the pupa will take eclosion in May of the next year. In Changsha the first generation larva of Herese convoluil Linne mainly grows in the host plant morning glory. The host plant of the second.. third and fourth generation include sweet potatoes.. water spinach and morning glory. The source of the winter-passing generation mostly comes from host plant morning glory. The winter-passing generation larva get ready to pass the winter by pupating at the end of September. The amount of ovums in the field bound to increase0 The fourth generation抯 ovums are the most. There are five Herese convoluil Linne抯 larvaes?length of times. The number of length of time is steady. According to the investigation, the width of the skull of the first.. second.. third.. fourth and fifth aged larvaes are respectively 0.9625+0.0373mm.. 1.618+0.079mm.. 2.815+0.138mm.. 5.176+0.119mm and 9.112+0.458mm; The length of body respectively are 2.98?.28nim.. 8.72-46.45mm 14.76?4.25xmn.. 22.18?3.23mm and 41.3 1-88.36mm. The larva of Herese convoluil Linne has different liking to different feed. What it likes most is leaves of sweet potatoes. The second are leaves of water spinach and morning glory. By using the three as its feed, Herese convoluil Linne will pupate.. emeragence.. mating and oviposit normally. The first to fifth aged larvaes抯 amount of what they eat (dry weight) respectively are0.0188+0.0209g.. 0.0339+0.0312g.. 0.2184+0.0834g..0.5519+0.02481g..4.2339+0.7061g.The percentage of each length of time and the whole period of larvaes are 0.38%.. 0.68%.. 2.46%.. 11.13% and85.39% in order. When larvaes transform leaves of sweet potatoes into the body of the larva, pupa, larvaes and pupa protein, the biological transforming rate respectively are 54.566%.. 23.6%.. 25.54% and 13.717%. The pupa抯 integument is rich in chitin The chitin抯 content are 0.766%.. 1.348%.. 6.745% and 13.013% in order 20 minutes.. one hour.. 24 hours or 7 days later when larvaes transforms into pupa. The forming of chitin抯 regular curve is 1ny~=0.01408x-3 .8062. Through the experiment we get to know Herese convoluil Linne is rich in nutrition. Five aged larvaes抯 fresh weight is 5.25-41.25g. The water content is 68.8?1.7%. In proportion to baked weight, coarse protein occupies 44.03?0.35%, 3 and the fat content is 17.8?2.79%. The fresh pupa weighs 5.09g. In the baked pupa, coarse protein and fat content respectively is 58.05% and 23.65%. Herese convoluil Linne is also rich in minerals in its body. It contains the biological elemant Zn most. The ovum produced by the female Herese convoluil Linne has a tendency to be deep green. What抯 more the ovum is scattered when produced and usually produced at the edge of back of leaves. The ovum takes the form of ellipse. The length is 1.34+0.06mm and the width is 0.882+0.014mm. The ovum just produced is deep blue and is light yellow before it is hatched. Tem...
