Ball screw is used widely in electric injection molding machines and other automated machinery as a precision linear drive component, with the development of design and manufacturing technology, ball screw's overall performance has been greatly improved. So on the basis this dissertation is to discuss and research the load-bearing capacity of the ball screw. This dissertation is composed of the following parts:The first chapter describes the history of ball screw's development, summarizes its current status, developing trend and some research results of this field domestic and abroad. After that this paper brings forward the subject's research background, significance and the research content and the expecting targets. The second chapter describes the ball screw's characteristics, structure and classification and so on, then establishes a ball screw mechanics model according to the characteristics of heavy load ball screw. In the third chapter, based on transformation between groove coordinate and screw coordinate, the load on the ball of ball screw mechanism was calculated. The ball's FE-model was established, then the ball's contact stress was analyzed by FEA. The effects of contact angle, number of balls, ball's diameter were discussed by the numerical computation. The study provides a reference value which decreases the ball's contact stress and raises ball screw's load-bearing capacity by modifying relative parameters in ball screw mechanism. In the fourth chapter, gives the framework of heavy load ball screw test bench, designs the mechanical structure of the test bench, chooses the test components according to test content and targets. Finally, this dissertation summarizes the research work, emphasizes the paper's innovation, and gives the future work of this research.
