It is very necessary to monitor and diagnose the rotor winding inter-turn short circuit,which is one of the common generator faults. Through introducing the rotor basic structures and the fault reason of rotor winding inter-turn short circuit, the electromechanical combined diagnosis study is carried for rotor winding inter-turn short circuit. By analyzing the parameters changing under normal operation condition and rotor winding inter-turn short circuit fault condition, the stator,rotor vibration characteristics and the stator winding parallel branches circulating current characteristics are investigated. Based on comprehensive consideration of electrical and vibration characteristic, RBF (Radial Basis Function) neural network can be established, which is applied successfully to fault diagnosis of rotor winding inter-turn short circuit. Finally, using practically acquired data on the dynamic simulation experiment,the results of verification show that the theoretical analysis and the diagnosis method are right.
