Early diagnosis and online monitoring of rotor winding inter turn short circuit is atopic which gained regard all around the world, and it is the research content of thispaper. This paper analyzes the traveling wave theory first, and on the basis of this,proposes new methods to diagnose rotor inter turn short circuit fault, which based onrepetitive surge oscilloscope and single-end fault information method, and posts that, wheninter turn short circuit fault occur, the input surge signal and field current both contain theinformation that express the fault characteristic, and then it can diagnose the fault. Afterdesigning and conducting correlative dynamic analog experiment, we prove the correctness ofabove theories. Based on the experimental data of repetitive surge oscilloscope, set upartificial neural network of rotor inter turn short circuit fault, and by the use of wavelettransform, analyze the data of single-end fault information method, the outcome of researchand analysis testify that, these two methods both can effectively identify rotor winding interturn short circuit fault.
