The PM-BLDCM (permanent magnetic brushless dc motor), which actually belongs to the PMSM (permanent magnetic synchronous motor), has trapezoid EMF (Electromotive Force) waveforms and rectangle current waveforms. BLDCM system not only has PMSM advantages, but also be of low cost, easy control, short development period and high reliability. Nowadays, BLDCM is widely used in industry. However, the problems such as rotor position estimation and the torque ripples have become the obstacles for the BLDCM to be used in high precision fields.First of all, the parametric two-dimensional BLDCM model is built by using electromagnetic analysis software FLUX(?) of CEDRAT Company. Secondly, the effects of suppression cogging torque methods about addition auxiliary notch, changing the arc coefficient, changing the shape of magnets and changing the width of adjacent notch are simulated. Thirdly, the effects of different conduct time of the switch on the commutation torque ripple are simulated. Finally, the effects of different width of the magnet arc on the torque ripple caused by the electromagnetic The advantages and disadvantages of the methods to suppress torque ripple are verified by detailed simulation analysis, which is useful for the choosing methods of torque ripple suppression technique in PM-BLDCM.
