Research On Structure Health Monitoring Of Jin Mao Tower

Structure Health Monitoring has been a very hot subject in current research in Civil Engineering. Under external forces, especially under strong typhoons and earthquakes, impairment would come in the structure. With time moves on, impairment would accumulate, accompanying with the ageing of the building materials, the structure would damage in local part, and even would destroyed in the whole.In order to prolong the service life of the structure, we should monitor the structure to detect the location and degree of impairment, in order to select proper measures to repair and reinforce it. This process is named "Structure Health Monitoring". Along with the development of economics and the living level, people pay much attention on the safety of building structure and lifeline engineering structure such as bridges and dams during their service life. So monitoring the health of the structures regularly in their service life has been an important subject nowadays.As a landmark of Shanghai, the safety of Jin Mao Tower carries important social and political meanings. So it has important social and economic values to setting up structure health monitoring system.This paper sums up the progress and relative theories of Structure Health Monitoring at the first part. At the second part, this paper conducts the general description of the structure of Jin Mao Tower. At the third part, the process of the whole structural analysis model is described, and this model can be used in the relative research of the structure monitoring. The forth part introduces the structure Health monitoring system of Jin Mao. At fifth part, relative works is carried out. At sixth part, conclusion is conducted and future work is brought up.
