Coal is the main energy in China's energy structure. But the large quantity exploitation of coal and low efficiency consuming bring serious pollution of the environment. Coal-water slurry is a type of low pollution, high efficiency, perfect liquidity fuel as a substitution for oil. This paper introduces the tests of Nanhai oil-fired 670t/h utility boiler being retrofitted to fire coal-water slurry, including numerical simulation of flow field, slagging tendency, heat transfer performances and pollutant emissions. The cold model experiment and combustion adjust experiment indicate that the design of the boiler is successful and function as a demonstration for furthering the application of coal-water slurry in utility boiler.Firstly the k-e two-equation turbulence model is used in numerical simulation of the flow field ,compared with the practical measures and tests, good accordance achives. This method can bring great convenience in analyzing aerodynamical field of boiler. Secondly the method of ash-composition, ash-melting-point, XRD is used in analyzing the phase transformation in the course of dynamic slagging test, so we can describe the process of slagging comparatively accurately. Last this paper introduces a kind of fuzzy mathematics model which comprises an assemblage combined by seven change factor. This model correctly judges the slagging tendency of a kind of coal-water slurry.Measurements are taken of the temperature field, flame emissivity, exhaust gas temperature and composition. These data represent some special features of coal-water slurry combustion and may serve as reference data during the design and retrofitting of a boiler for firing...
