The diabetes is one kind of serious incretionary diseases hazarding human being. Thepositive prevention treatment and screening in early days are effective to control thisdisease. The in vitro examination of blood glucose with blood meter is a helpful andsafety method at the hospital or family to monitor the diabetes, and will contribute to thepatient health recovering by the treatment against illness. In this research, the portableblood glucose meter using enzyme electrode was reported. The enzyme electrode was prepared with ferrocene as the electron mediator byscreen-printing method. The ferrocene effectively transmitted electron between theglucose oxydase and the electrode. The electric currency response was optimal atconcentration of ferrocene of 5.0mg/ml and pH 7.0, and was linearity at temperaturerange from 16 to 40℃ and glucose concentrations from 10 to 800mg/dl. The portableblood glucose meter was developed with the disposable electrode converter bymicroelectronic technique. The meter is characterized with low energy consumption, highprecision and handle-easy and portable due to the smaller size.Preclinical test of this meter was carried out at various temperatures (10~40℃),hematocrit (28~66%), and endogenous disturbed substances, including triglyceride (<11mmol/L), cholesterol (<14.4mmol/L), bilirubin (<10 mg/dl), helten (<400μmol/L), uricacid (<20 mg/dl) and drugs such as Vitamin C (<150μmol/L) and p-acetamidophenol (<23mg/dl). The meter detected glucose concentration thoroughly in no more than 20seconds with minimal volume of 1.5 μl blood. All of the disturbed tests showed that theresults of this meter were comparable to those of YSI 2300 Stat Plus, suggesting that thismeter had good repeatability and high selectability without to be disturbed. The meterwas stable at room temperature (20℃) for 40 weeks, and at accelerated temperature (45℃)for 22 weeks.Clinical test results showed that the application of this meter was accordant withboth YSI 2300 Stat Plus and Presicion Q.I.D. weather by technicians or the unpracticedusers. The error table analysis demonstrated that all of the detected data were deposited inthe acceptable A and B sections. Thus, this meter was a validated diagnostic system invitro for blood glucose.
