| The boiler combustion has the delay, non-linear and having not clearly math model, it is difficult to control, and the combustion efficiency is low, it has made much waste. So enhancing the combustion efficiency of boiler is an important problem concerned by the technical engineers and the scholars.This paper presents a method to design intelligent control system, which is applied to the optimization of combustion status in coal-fired boiler. Composed of a knowledge-based switch controller, a fuzzy optimizing controller and a fuzzy neural network controller, this system not only has the capability of self-learning, but also can optimizing the Air/Fuel ratio on-line automatically to sustain the optimum combustion condition, whenever the boiler is running normally or disturbed by the variation in load or in coal-quality. The optimize Air/Fuel ratio will be memorized an employed as the learning sample to train the neural network, so as to optimize the neural network model. Moreover, the introduction of an assistant parameter, gross radiate energy in furnace, improves the optimization efficiency of this intelligent control system, it improve the efficiency of boiler combustion.Besides being able to guarantee the continuous high efficiency of combustion, in the closed-loop control for the stream temperature, the scheme that traditional PID controller is combined with the fuzzy control is adopted. Not only the robust performance of the system has been improved, but also the advantage of high steady state precision of PID controller has been inherited, hence perfect control result has been obtained.
