It is the final objective pursued by manufacturing industry and research community that to improve product quality and reduce lead-time and cost of product, and is the mainly factor of the enterprise in global marketplace to achieve the success and the development. In order to achieve such objectives, increasing research attention is being given to concurrent engineering and the integration of engineering design and manufacturing during the last decades. The traditional CAPP system mostly is a design module based on the serial feedback, so the designer can not acquire the new data through corresponding to other sub-systems with information in time. So the design, which ensures manufacturing the high quality products with the lowest-cost and the most facilitation, is no reachable. According to this situation, it has the academic significance and the abroad, imminent demands to apply the CE philosophy to the CAPP system thoroughly, research and develop the integrated CAPP system, which is concurrent engineering oriented. The integrated CAPP system should supply the design system with the evaluation about the products' manufacturability, which consists of geometry structure of products, the manufacturing time estimation of the product, and the manufacturing cost estimation, so the manufacturability evaluating plays a significant role in production fulfillment and the its process-design integration, and it is the important solution for the concurrent engineering fulfillment.According to the discussion about the present status and the developing trendof the traditional CAPP system and the concurrent engineering, the thesis analyzes lots of limitations of the traditional CAPP system, then put forward the CAPP system demand of concurrent engineering oriented (CECAPP), researches on the structure framework and critical techniques of the CECAPP, the description and input of the system parts. Based on this, the thesis designs a system solution for the manufacturability, based on the AHP theory, which constructs the evaluating system, mechanism, establishes the mathematics module, and presents the solutions. The final goal of this research is to present a decision-making support tool, which can be used during design-stages to improve the products quality from the manufacturing point view.Evaluating the manufacturability of a proposed design involves determining whether or not it is manufacturable with a given set of manufacture resource during its whole manufacturing process. If a part is manufacturable, then finding the associated manufacturing efficiency, if a part is not manufacturableor, then pointing out the problems. The manufacturability includes many aspects, such as geometry structure of parts, the rationality of the tolerance specification, fixturability and the assemblability etc.So it is a direction for CAPP development to apply the AHP solution into the manufacturability evaluating.
