The radar-based life detection refers to the non-contact detection which is able to identify the respiration and surface movement signals of human body by the echo wave of radar reflected from human body. The non-contact detection can be used to search for the wounded buried in earthquake, collapse, avalanche or in the war. What is more,it can be applied to the field of psychological test and antiterrorism. The radar-based life detector designed by our research group in the early time is based on personal computer as the central processing and controlling unit. Although this system can perform the basic function of life detection, it is not convenient for the staff to carry because of its big volume and heavy weight. In order to make up for the deficiency of the detection system we put forward the design of the radar-based life detector controlled by the microprocessor C8051F120.As the system ,which is small in volume ,is highly integrated and easy to carry and operate, it has a good application prospect.Based on the above consideration our research group has completed the following jobs: Firstly, designing and setting up a hardware system which makes use of the microprocessor C8051F120 and TMS320VC5410APGE as the controlling units to take samples of the life signals and display them.
