It is presented in this thesis the description of optimization design and simulation and analysis for a certain single-arm pantograph mechanism and the study about the spring system in the collector head using CAD/CAE technology based on multi-objective optimization design, finite element analysis and virtual prototype technology. The optimized geometric parameters of the pantograph and analysis results for collector head spring system design are obtained and the results have been applied in actual product development.Optimization model of the pantograph is built and multi-objective optimization design method is studied, and then the geometric parameters of the pantograph are optimized using optimization of MATLAB and the realization of the key target aims of the collector head trajectory and the raising torque, etc. is guaranteed. The 3D model of the pantograph is built in UG which is imported in ADAMS and then the virtual prototype model of the pantograph is built by defining its mass, constraints, motion relations and etc., on basis of which, the performance of the pantograph is simulated using virtual prototype technology and the correctness of the optimization results are validated. The whole process of designing pantograph by means of combining optimization techniques and virtual prototype technology is accomplished. Further, by means of finite element analysis technology, the intensity and deformation is checked up in ANSYS and transverse rigidity test is simulated. On basis of the optimized pantograph model, the virtual prototype model of catenary-pantograph is further built in ADAMS. Then the influence of the stiffness of the collector head spring system on the contact situation between catenary and the pantograph, by which, the relation between the stiffness of the collector head spring system and running speed of the pantograph is obtained as well as correlative conclusions which has instructive significance on design of the collector head spring system of pantograph.
