The application of nuclear energy and nuclear science and technology have already brought enormous economic benefit and social benefit to mankind, but the radiation followed may do harm to mankind. During the times that the nuclear industry develops rapidly, people realize that with the development of nuclear industry, the optimization of radiation protection seems more and more important among the design, operation and ex-service of nuclear facilities.This paper mainly analyses and studies the optimization about the shielding materials of gamma ray. The text has set up the mathematics model of optimizing, has worked out the program of optimizing, has finished the optimization calculation of the three group samples, has made the analysis for the optimization calculation results, has set up experimental system, and has utilized VI (Virtual Instrument) technology to work out data gathering software, which makes the gathered data real-time accurate when being displayed and saved. Finally, the shielding effects of the several group gamma ray shielding samples which are optimization calculated, are proved through experiments. An analysis of the experimental results shows that the optimization method adopted in this paper is correct, the results of the experiment is believable, and we achieve our anticipated purposes.
