On the basis of summing up overall the researches before about the time of vessel collision avoidance and magnitude of course alternation, and the usage of Grey system theory in the waterborne traffic safety system, utilizing questionnaire for investigation and practical observation, this thesis has analyzed and studied the relation between the time of collision avoidance and magnitude of course alteration, between the time of collision avoidance and speeds of two encounter vessels, between the magnitude of course alteration and the situation of two encounter vessels, between encounter speeds and encounter situation by statistics analysis and Grey analysis. This study has a practical importance on advising navigator's collision avoidance and studying navigator's decision-making. Particularly the Grey analysis used in vessel collision avoidance study is an attempt and obtains some conclusions. The attempt just likes: throw a brick ,make a jade.
