Currently, the battle around the world’s maritime rights and interests being heating-up, ocean has become a hotspot of international strategic competition. Offshore war has become mainstream model of sea battles in the future as well as the demands of realizing the zero casualties increasingly urgent, the new concept of unmanned surface vessel will get breakthrough development. In the past, many of our research are mainly carried out about underwater UUV and have acquired some important results. However, the unmanned surface vessel is not caused enough attention, especially the core technology of surface unmanned vessel-automatic collision avoidance technology has not been solved.Based on the shortage of control algorithm, the research of this paper summarizes previous experience and makes improvements. First, analyzed the collision course and avoidance principle about USV deeply, grasped the knowledge about the field of collision avoidance. On this basis, coordinate system and computation of related parameter are given for USV decision system. This paper also analyze the effect of DCPA and TCPA by changing direction and speed, Established the model of measuring collision risk index and knowledge base of USV, Make relative test and analyze about USV by establishing the system of unmanned surface vessel.In this topic, the knowledge base of automatic collision avoidance for unmanned surface vessel is based on the speed and direction. The system can make the correct decision for the different direction, distance and task by changing the USV’s direction and speed. At last, it can realize the task of automatic collision avoidance.The research on automatic collision avoidance for unmanned surface vessel is a hot topic in maritime technology. This paper is only made a preliminary study, In some respects, it meets the needs of practical work at sea. However, it still needs further research on multi-objective collision avoidance and so on.
