The crankshaft is very important to marine diesel engine, it is the power hinge of diesel engine. The state of the crankshaft is directly related to the safety of shipping vessels. Crankshaft deflection witch could reflect the state of diesel engine crankshaft is an important parameter. So, it is required to measure the crankshaft deflection regularly. The result could facilitate the assessment of the state of the crankshaft and its maintenance, so that to ensure the safe operation of the ship.The newly developed crankshaft deflection gauge could replace the traditional way of measuring the crankshaft deflection by mechanical gauge, and providing a convenient way to measure the crankshaft deflection.In this paper introduced the design of crankshaft deflection gauge. It adopt Linear Variable Differential Transformer(LVDT) as the sensor, use AD698 as the signal generation and processing chip, use STC89C516RD+ as the system processor, use TLC2543 as the data acquisition unit, and use YB12864 LCD as the system's interface.This paper introduces the hard ware of crankshaft deflection gauge by 7 modules. Including signal conditioning, data acquiring, keyboard inputting, Wireless remote control, LCD displaying, serial communication, printing, and have designed the circuit schematic, finally we integrate these modules to form a system.This paper describes the software of each module, including data collecting subprogram, key interrupting subprogram, software filtering subprogram, multi-level menu interface displaying subprogram, serial communication subprogram, and so on, then form a complete software program, support the hard ware to measure the crankshaft deflection.Finally we conduct the field test in cabin laboratory, acquired crankshaft deflection data, and contrast these data to the date acquired by the mechanical gauge, proved the superiority of the crankshaft deflection gauge.
