Being a new type of mechanical seals, Micro-pores are etched on one face of the seal. Mechanical seals with a laser-textured pores seal faces, are of excellent lubricating ability and good seal performance due to non-connecting. But much work has not been focused on Numerical Simulation of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for the mechanical seals.Micro-pores are etched on one face of the seal three-dimension model was founded using Pro ENGINEER software, a numerical simulation was made for the internal micro-scale three-dimension flow field under a special condition of the Micro-pores are etched on one face of the seal using Fluent software, the distributions of the pressure and velocity of the flow field, and leakage were obtained. Analyzed the differentεand three different types of the micro porous, get the influence law of sealing performance parameters and get the bestεand the best choice of Micro porous type. And then get the relationship of the liquid film thickness and open forces, through the Fluent calculate liquid membrane open force. At last, calculates and analyzes the stiffness and liquid membrane thickness relationship. The main contents and achievements are summarized as follow:1. Micro-pores are etched on one face of the seal three-dimension model was founded using Pro ENGINEER software. According to the basic assumptions, liquid film pressure over one radial pore column can characterize one over the integrated seal face. The model was latticed using the pre-treatment Gambit of Fluent software, a numerical simulation was made for the internal micro-scale three-dimension flow field under a special condition of the Micro-pores are etched on one face of the seal using Fluent software, the distributions of the pressure and velocity of the flow field, and leakage were obtained.2. The distributions of the pressure and velocity of the flow field, and leakage under different parameters were obtained through the second numerical simulations after the operation parameters were changed. And analyses the film thickness in the same situation, the influence ofεfor Micro-pores are etched on one face of the seal.3. The three-dimension model of the liquid membrane between the Micro porous tip-to-face were carried out by Pro ENGINEER software for different types, such as rectangle, tapered and ellipse. On certain occasions, the three kind of different models were simulated with fluent software. As a result, their pressure distribution,velocity distribution and leakage were obtained.Analyzes on the same thickness of the Liquid membrane, get the performance influence of sameεfor Micro-pores were etched on one face of the seal of the three different type surface micro porous.4. Get the relationship of the liquid film thickness and open forces, through the Fluent calculate liquid membrane open force. At last, calculates and analyzes the stiffness and liquid membrane thickness relationship. The result shows that: Liquid membrane stiffness strong nonlinear characteristics. With the increase of liquid membrane, the thickness decline. In larger within the film thickness are larger open force and liquid membrane stiffness, the sealed stable operation is very favorable.
