This paper is based on national natural sciences fund project that Modern automobile ISAD system for axial sectional claw pole machine with permanent magnet outer rotor and controls the engineering research" (Project authorized number:51077094). In view of the fact that axial sectional claw pole machine with permanent magnet outer rotor (ASCPM) has high power density and high torque density, and the claw pole of stator is made of soft magnetic compound materials (SMC), when running in the high frequency filed it will have fewer iron loss, and higher power than other kinds of machine. Thus it is suitable for fan and pump with frequency changer. This paper mainly does a series of research on analysis and the designing method for ASCPM. Details as following:Firstly, present situation of the development of claw pole machine is analyzed. With the background of energy conservation and emission reduction, it proved that ASCPM have broad practical significance extremely.Secondly, analyzed the electromagnetism relations of ASCPM, and briefly introduced characteristic of SMC. According to distribution of its main flux and the leakage flux, the equivalent magnetic circuit model is established, and each part of magnetic resistance is inferred. MATLAB simulated program is established, which determined the electromagnetism plan of than machine. After that analysis law is used to explain the reason that this kind of machine has the high power density and high torque density.Thirdly, in order to confirm the electromagnetism plan feasibility, the software of ANSOFT is used to build model and carry on the three dimensional finite element magnetic field analysis to ASCPM. Through the static simulation, magnetism dense distribution of claw pole, air gap magnetism dense distribution and inductance parameter is obtained; Through the transient simulation, Curve of electromotive force without load, core loss, cogging torque of the single section and three section of claw pole, electromagnetism torque with load is obtained. Then expression for cogging torque of ASCPM is inferred and take this as foundation, the method to weakening cogging torque is carried out. Moreover each part of leakage factors is calculated by used the software of ANSOFTFinally, introduced manufactures prototypical the craft of ASCPM, and experiment carried on the motor and generator separately. The empirical datum and the computed result relativity, proved that method is correct and this kind of machine is suitable for the fan and pump.
