For the research of wind power technology, it is inconveniently to do experiment in wind farm because the location of wind farm is always desolate. It is necessary to build an equipment to simulating the wind turbine at the primary research stage.At first, the characters of different kinds of wind turbines which are used are introduced. By comparing two methods of simulating for the wind turbine, the method of reading angular velocity and writing torque is chosen, and the method of calculating torque and power with a formula is introduced. In order to simulate the dynamic process of wind turbine with heavy moment of inertia, an algorithm is analyzed and designed based on rigid transmission model.The simulator of wind turbine is consisted of computer, electrical frequency converter and asynchronous motor. The software is programmed with Microsoft(?) Visual C++(?), and it is used for calculating the torque of wind turbine, realizing the heavy moment of inertia algorithm, giving or taking message with operator, and communicating by serial port.Finally, the validity of the simulator for wind turbine is testified by the result of static and dynamic experiment in different load situation.
