Metal mineral resources in China are rich. The heavy metal pollution to the soil caused by mineral development is large and wide. Tongling City of Anhui Province is one of the main mining cities in China , the tailings,slag and smelting of the polymetallic deposits, such as Cu and Au, has become an important source of the heavy metal pollution to the soil. Heavy metal pollution to the soil has some characteristics such as concealed, cumulative, regional, irreversible and long-term characteristic, which may harm to ecological environment and human health.This article do detail study on the heavy metal pollution to the soil and use the Nemerow index and Geoaccumlation index to evaluate the current pollution on two mining district which are Zhaoshan gold mine in the Lion Mountain Region and Xinqiao mineral company in Shun'an town of Tongling county . Searching Chinese and international document and visiting environmental protection official website in ord to understand the current research dynamic and technical methods about risk assessment which is new but popular .Master the model and parameter values of the risk assessment, amend some parameters combined with China's national conditions to assess the health risk and ecological risk.In this study, the most important purpose is on the basis of current evaluation and risk assessment to identify pollutants and risk factors which need be attentted and controlled, then contribute to control soil pollution and risk management in Tongling mining district. Integrated the assessment results, the risk factors as follows: severe pollution point (risk points): main shaft of Zhaoshan mine, the east 2# point of Zhaoshan mine, the west 1# point of Zhaoshan mine,the east 1# point of Xinqiao mine, and the southeast 2 # point of Xinqiao mine ; serious contaminations: As and Cd; the pollutants who have high health risks : the cancer risk and non-carcinogenic risks from As are both great, Cr has the greatest cancer risk; the pollutants who have high ecological risks: Cd, Hg, and As have great potential ecological risks; these two mining have high cancer risk and ecological risk, in which Zhaoshan gold mining area is relatively higher.
