This passage sets the water and sediment in the Nanfei River, Hefei, Anhui, as the research object, and carries out the heavy metal element pollution research. Fourteen representing sampling points are selected from the upriver to the downriver, and the As,Cd,Hg,Pb,Cu,Zn,Ni,Cr,Co,Mn and other heavy metal's pollution is evaluated. The methods of Index of Geoacumulation and potential ecological risk evaluation are used to evaluate the potential ecological risk of surface layer of sediment in Nanfei river, and the two results are basically the same. The surface layer of sediment in Nanfei River has already been subjected to low-grade or lean-middle-grade pollution, and there are very serious ecological pollution at the sampling points of Changfeng Road Bridge, Mengcheng Road Bridge,Fuyang Road Bridge,Tunxi Road Bridge,Dangtu Road Bridge,Xingang Dock and Ferry; and there are serious ecological pollution at the sampling points of Dongpu Reservoir Dam,Huanhudong Road Bridge,Hezuohua Road Bridge,the Entrance to Chaohu of Nanfei River and Chaohu Lake; and there are middle ecological pollution at the sampling points of Suixi Road Bridge and the Branch of Sancha River. The paper indicates that the Hg ecological risk of Nanfei River is the most greatest and reaches the class of extremely serious harm; the Cd ecological risk is serious; and other types of metal are lightly serious. And the paper also analyzes the heavy metal element in Nanfei River's water. By the method of osculating value and comprehensive index method, the heavy metal at every sampling point is computed and compared. The water pollution degree of every sampling is as the sequence: Dongpu Reservoir Dam<Hezuohua Road Bridge<the Branch of Sancha River<Changfeng Road Bridge<Suixi Road Bridge<Mengcheng Road Bridge<Fuyang Road Bridge<Chaohu Lake<the Entrance of Nanfei River<Tunxi Road Bridge<Huanhudong Road Bridge<Dangtu Road Bridge<Ferry<Xingang Dock. Thus the pollution of Xingang Dock is the most serious. Integrating with regional geological background and human activities, the sediment and water of Nanfei River are regarded as being polluted seriously. At the last the paper discusses the ecological problem and the continuable development of Nanfei River and brings forward some constructive opinions.
